Situation

With 41 locations in Ontario, Quebec and Florida, ClubLink is the largest owner and operator of golf courses in Canada. As a seasonal business, they face some challenges with staffing. Due to their size, they routinely hire hundreds of seasonal employees every year and many of them must return to school before the end of the golf season.

ClubLink reached out to VPI to help with their staffing issues. As an employment service provider with branches across southern Ontario, and a large pool of active job seekers including youth and students, we are well-equipped to help with ClubLink’s situation. Through our Employment Ontario programs, we provide job readiness workshops and mentorship to job seekers as well as financial incentives to help with the costs of training new employees.

Solution

Our team of employment specialists met with ClubLink to get a better sense of what their key staffing issues are and to identify the best ways in which we can help. We determined that through hosting a Hiring Event, we could provide ClubLink with an efficient and effective way to meet and interview many candidates for various positions. We began planning well in advance of their hiring cycle and developed a process for qualified youth and students with limited work experience to attend job-readiness workshops in order help increase their success rate on the job.

At the Hiring Event we hosted, the ClubLink team was impressed with the turnout and the quality of the candidates–as Sarah said, “VPI organized, marketed, and ran a successful hiring fair for our organization”. As a result, they made multiple hires–some of whom remained for the entire season.
