Goal: Find a job to help pay for College
Challenge: Financial Support; getting started
Support offered: Virtual Workshops; Youth Job Connection
“My goal is to go to college. You helped me by finding a job for me to get there.”
– Jadon, former job seeker
Jadon’s long-term career goal is to go to college to study Police Foundations. He contacted VPI because he was having difficulty taking the next steps toward his goals–he needed financial support and guidance.
Jadon spoke with one of our expert Job Placement Specialists and together they came up with a plan. Jadon qualified for the Youth Job Connection (YJC) program–a government-funded program designed to help youth gain meaningful employment experience wich includes paid that offers free pre-employment workshops followed by a job placement.
The YJC group that Jadon started with was the first to feature a brand new format–virtual workshops. These virtual workshops are facilitated by a live member of the VPI team but delivered through the virtual conferencing tool Zoom. All YJC participants can attend these workshops from the comfort and safety of their own home. Jadon adapted well to the new format. He excelled in the virtual workshops, often leading the group discussions.
Jadon completed the YJC virtual workshops and was paid for his participation. He also attended virtual guest speaker talks on topics like Apprenticeship opportunities and how to effectively manage personal finances.
With what he learned through the YJC program and virtual events, Jadon is one step closer to achieving his long-term career goals. If you need help with your job search, we can help. Contact us today.
