Job Seeker Success Story

Programs and encouragement to help with your job search

Client:Jane
Goal: Finding a new job
Challenge: Lack of knowledge about career options, confidence
Support offered: Career Cruising software, one-on-one coaching

“VPI helped me see that my experience and skills are transferable and do mean something.”

Jane, former job seeker

Situation

Jane was working in a customer service job that was causing her stress. She wanted to find a new job while she worked on her long-term career goals. But she wasn't sure what her options were.

She made an appointment with Kathi, a VPI Career Specialist who set her up with free Career Cruising software. Career Cruising is a program that helps guide you through the early stages of your job search through tools like self-assessment, labour market research, online job search and resume creation.

With the help of Career Cruising, Jane was able to find out more about her realistic job prospects. More importantly, by meeting with Kathi, Jane received the encouragement and confidence boost she needed to find a job with a new company.

Jane is currently working in a new retail position and enjoys her new work environment. She now has the information, confidence and time to start planning for her future.
