Careers in Trades | September 2017

We’re hosting three interactive presentation sessions on apprenticeships and trades. During each presentation different employers will be joining us to discuss career options and what they look for when hiring an apprentice.

This event is ideal for parents, young adults and community members who wish to learn about opportunities in skilled trades.

Guest speaker, Andrea Ellsworth from the Catholic District School Board discusses how to access educational grants and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) while exploring a career in skilled trades.

@ 10:30 a.m.

Guest speaker, Anna Suratram from Bridges Kinder Connection Daycare discusses her experience with apprenticeships from an employers’ perspective, what employers look for when hiring an apprentice, and challenges employers face during the hiring process.

@ 11:00 a.m.

Guest speaker, Dianne Lewis from Dymar Mechanical Electrical discusses what employers look for in an apprentice, advice on how to access trades opportunities, and additional information about sheet metal, a newly discovered trade.
