Situation
Mallika came to VPI for help with her long-term career goal of working with new immigrants as a social worker. She was having difficulty finding work in her chosen field, in part, because her credentials are from another country.
She met with one of our expert Career Specialists and together they came up with a plan for Mallika to return to school with support from the Better Jobs Ontario (formerly Second Career) program.
Better Jobs Ontario is a government-funded program that helps successful applicants find new jobs in in-demand industries by providing funding for training.
Mallika and her Career Specialist worked together to develop her Better Jobs Ontario application–including highlighting her skills, participating in VPI workshops, and emphasizing her past experience.
Mallika’s application was successful. She was able to return to school and is now one step closer to her achieving her career goals.
