“On a scale of 1- 10, I would give the program a 10 – It has really helped our business!”
– Kavitha, MTech Ltd.

Situation

Located in Toronto, MTech Ltd. is an automotive parts supplier with a small production turning shop. Using the right technology and tools is key to staying competitive in the manufacturing industry. To improve efficiency, Mtech wanted to train staff to use a new automation system from Takamaz–an industry leader in machines and technology for manufacturing. But the potential cost and down-time required to complete training presented a challenge.

MTech contacted VPI about the Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG). The COJG program is designed to help employers train staff by providing funding to offset training costs. As a designated service provider, we guided the MTech team through the application process and helped them secure funding for training.

Because of the funding that they received from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD), MTech was able to afford the cost of upskilling staff on new technology. As a result of the new technology, production, sales and efficiency all increased.

Approach

Issue Solution
High cost of employee training a barrier to expanding business
  • 1-on-1 support from a COJG Coordinator to guide the applicant through the submission process
  • 2/3 cost of training covered by the MAESD
