TORONTO, June 26, 2007 – Companies looking to win the war on talent have a new way to take the guess work out of the hiring process, and make the right hire the first time. vpi Inc. today is launching 1up Employment Advantage, which combines sophisticated personality screening and skills assessment testing to find the best match between employers and employees.
More than half of small and medium size businesses currently rank finding qualified labour as a top priority, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business. There also is expected to be a shortage of qualified candidates after 2011 as baby boomers start retiring, according to Statistics Canada research released in June.
“Companies are doing everything they can to retain existing talent and find the best candidates,” said vpi Inc. President and CEO Gail Rieschi. “Finding a good fit between the job seeker and employer is essential for the health and success of both the individual and the company. Increasingly, employers are turning to pre-employment testing to assist in making sound hiring decisions.”
1up Employment Advantage brings together two methods of candidate evaluation. Job simulation exercises replicate real world conditions and tasks and allow employers to assess the candidates’ technical skills. Personality testing helps determine if the candidate’s work style matches the company’s corporate culture.
“This unique combination of personality and job simulation assessment provides employers with a much more complete picture about the candidate,” added Rieschi. “They can reliably predict the chances of success.”
The 1up Employment Advantage program offers permanent recruitment, temporary staff and payroll services support. For more information, visit www.1upemployment.com.
